
James Ray Elliott, 63, of Milton, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born March 1, 1945, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late, Elwood and Dorothy Connor. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam as a Combat Medic and was a prisoner of war. He retired form the Army in 1980. After serving his county he worked for Exxon as a Safety Controller where he retired. He was a member of the America Legion Post 139 who will be performing military graveside rights. He was also a member of the Guyandotte VFW Post 9738. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He will always be remembered for his smile. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sherry Cupp Elliott; one daughter, Charlotte Pierce of Portsmouth, OH; one son, James “Junior” Elliott Jr.; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Burgess of California, Roberta Steele of Michigan, Sandy Settler of Florida and Linda Selvadge of Texas; one brother, Jim Daniels of Milton. Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
